Art Klash- D.C.’s Premier Live Art Battle

Last Thursday (October 29th), art enthusiasts and socialites gathered together in Georgetown to witness Art Klash. Art Klash is live art battle that puts the Washington D.C. area’s best artists against each other in a head to head competition. Shanikqua Wade, Earl Melvin, and Tendani Mpulubusi had 90 minutes to construct paintings based on the theme of “conflict” which was selected by the audience.

With the competition in full effect DJ Beatstreet took a break from spinning the music from all genres for Danielle Koon to perform spoken work selections. After a heartfelt and well received performance the music started back up and the vibes shifted back to fun. The crowd watched as each artist formed their piece from beginning to end with their own distinct style.

At the end of the night guest judges X.O. (Studio 43), Juanita Britton (Anacostia Art Gallery), and Joshua Tiktin (Dekka) unanimously selected Tendani Mpulubudi’s piece as the winner. He received a cash prize along with a gift bag from Durkl.

Art Klash is forum to celebrate creativity and art.
