WASHINGTON—December 1, 2010—It takes more than just great style to be considered the most fashionable person in Washington, D.C. which is why FW, the high-end fashion magazine from The Washington Post, is excited to announce Philippa P.B. Hughes, philanthropist, art enthusiast and founder of The Pink Line Project, as FW’s 2010 Most Fashionable Washingtonian.

“FW launched three years ago to capture D.C.’s growing style scene. Part of our mission is to celebrate people who make a significant impact on the fashion and culture of Washington,” said Jennifer Barger, FW’s Editor. “This year, we’re overjoyed to honor Philippa as FW’s 2010 Most Fashionable Washingtonian. Her eclectic personal style is empowering and her work, which aims to strengthen the D.C. arts community, is inspiring,” said Barger.

For the first time, FW will present its Most Fashionable Award during an award ceremony at 30,000 feet on board an OpenSkies direct flight to Paris, France, among Hughes’ guests and accompanying passengers. FW’s Most Fashionable Washingtonian Award is sponsored by Open Skies, the low fare all-business class airline offering direct flights from Washington Dulles to Paris Orly, the closest airport to downtown Paris.

“In working with OpenSkies, we are able to connect D.C. fashion, culture and philanthropy to one of the most culturally vibrant cities in the world,” said Jenny Abramson, FW’s Publisher. “Washington’s appetite for style and glamour has increased in the last three years, so in addition to recognizing one of the city’s most fashionable, we are thrilled to literally connect D.C. to Paris, the fashion capital of the world in an environment that possesses the unique sass, class and style as the winner herself.”

After the in-flight award ceremony, FW will capture Hughes’ 5-day and 4-night adventure in Paris through a blog.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with FW to make this unprecedented in-flight awards ceremony possible,” said Dale Moss, CEO of OpenSkies. “This unique opportunity is a natural fit with our exceptional all-business class offering for passengers traveling between Washington and Paris.”

Philippa Hughes is a lawyer and lobbyist-turned-art-collector who is committed to development of the Washington arts scene through The Pink Line Project. The Pink Line Project fosters intellectual and artistic innovation through programs and events that are fueled by the transformative power of art. When it comes to fashion, Hughes’ mix of designer fashions, vintage pieces and love of bright colors makes her stand out in even the most fashionable crowds.

Previously, FW named environmentalists Philippe and Alexandra Cousteau as D.C.’s Most Fashionable in 2009 and D.C. First Lady Michelle Fenty in 2008. FW is distributed with The Washington Post to nearly 100,000 subscribers and is also available at upscale boutiques, salons, restaurants and hotels around the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan area.
