Jay Barrows to Speak at MPA on Making, Marketing, and Collecting Art in the 21st Century

Thursday March 1, 2012, 7 - 9 pm

Jay Barrows is the long-time curator for the Sydney and Frances Lewis Private Art Collection in Richmond, VA.  The collection consists of more that 1300 pieces including paintings, sculpture, unique and limited edition contemporary furniture, ceramics by major 20th century artists such as Andy Warhol, Larry Rivers, Chuck Close, and Claes Oldenburg. He is also an art
consultant / broker whose focus is to assist local, regional and national artists in selling or placing their work in collections.

Jay will talk on the massive changes that have taken place in the art world regarding how artists market their work and how collectors purchase art.
