Greater Reston Arts Center presents an artist talk with Renée Stout and Odinga Tyehimba examining their current exhibition, Incubator, at the Center. The talk will take place at 7:00pm on June 26 at the gallery, located in Reston Town Center. The talk is free and open to the public.

Incubator is a collaborative project pairing Washington, DC-based Renée Stout with self-taught artist Odinga Tyehimba, who hails from Durham, North Carolina. In addition to a mutual interest in African spirituality and ritual objects, Stout and Tyehimba share a fascination with radio and cell phone towers, electrical generators, circuit boards and other objects representing the transference of power or information. Their unique shrines, diagrams, and machines are informed by sources as diverse as contemporary video games and global sociopolitical events. Suggesting a post-apocalyptic alternate reality, their works beckon us to consider the shifting balance of power in this world, and our direction within it.
